The City of Cairo Building Department contains offices for the Building Official, Inspector, and Mapping Department.

This Department issues the following Building Permits:

• Building
• Plumbing
• Heating and Air
• Electric
• Gas

The Department enforces an Ordinance entitled “Unfit Buildings or Structure, Abandoned/Junk Vehicles, Unsafe and Unsanitary Conditions” of Chapter 12 entitled “Health and Sanitation” of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Cairo, Georgia. The City of Cairo has an aggressive nuisance abatement program.

The Mapping Department provides maps of the flood zones, water lines, sewer lines, and electric/gas lines, as well as zoning maps and cable maps of the City of Cairo.
