The Fire Marshal also works in conjunction with the state fire marshal's office as well as the code enforcement office performing inspections and plans review. The department also offers car seat checks to the public to ensure the safe installation and adjustment of various types of child safety seats. If you do come by for an inspection it is best to have the child using the seat with you to make sure the seat is adjusted properly for the size of the child. Appointments are not necessary but calling before you come is encouraged to make sure someone is available (377-3293 opt. 4). In addition to these tasks the department also conducts flow testing and inspection of each fire hydrant twice a year and completes pre-fire plans on all commercial businesses annually.

Burn Permits are required and issued for natural vegetation hand piles only, depending on the weather conditions. Please call or come by to obtain a permit before burning.
