The legislative authority of the government of the City of Cairo is vested in the City Council which is composed of five (5) members. The members of the Council representing single member districts serve a four (4) year term and until their respective successors are qualified and elected. The Mayor is elected at large.
The Council meets in regular session on the Second and Fourth Monday of each month. The meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 101-B North Broad Street and begin at 6:00 P. M.
